The Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG) has provided a private security patrol for Georgetown for the last 30 years. For election week in November 2020, CAG will have two officers patrolling each night, November 3rd to 8th–one officer will be responsible for the East Village and the other officer for the West Side. We all benefit by their presence, for they know if constitutionally-protected protests are taking place or if senseless violence is happening. They will keep MPD, staff and volunteers updated on a live basis. And they can monitor the situation at your property if you are not here.
Due to the unrest this summer, CAG moved quickly to double the patrol coverage and to extend coverage from five nights a week to seven nights a week.
CAG thanks all who have donated for many years. Your past generosity let us quickly add the second patrol officer as well as to provide patrols seven nights a week this summer and fall. We encourage all Georgetown residents to help us fund the unbudgeted expense this year of continuing our services: expanding the patrols to seven nights a week and increasing coverage when needed to deal with events that might impact public safety.
