Meeting with MPD Commander Bedlion

The Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG) co-sponsored with the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2E (ANC2E) the September 21st virtual meeting with MPD 2nd District Commander Bedlion to discuss the recent serious crimes in the Georgetown community.  Commander Bedlion explained that MPD has taken decisive and immediate action to deter future crimes:

  • Activated the Crime Suppression Team for violent crime, which has recently made three arrests;
  • Enhanced MPD presence, with highly visible vehicles actively patrolling the East Village; and
  • Increased traffic violations enforcement near Dupont Circle and the West End, including having made arrests for improper and stolen license plates.

Additionally, MPD continues to review videos and forensic evidence from the three recent armed robberies in Georgetown, with the anticipation of making arrests.
