Georgetown Time Machine: Lower Georgetown Slum

This week on Georgetown Time Machine, I’m exploring a striking photo of lower Georgetown. The photo comes from the DC Historical Society and is dated to 1905.The description of the photo states that it’s of M St. looking north. Or rather it says “M(?) St.” looking north. I was drawn to it for a couple reasons. The steepness of the hill made me wonder if it was the old 36th St., which once traveled
