Summer Concerts – A Venue for Families

In the early 2000’s, Georgetown experienced an influx of young families choosing to raise their children in the community. New playgroups popped up in the parks, mommy organizations were re-energized, and the sidewalks were crowded with strollers and tricycles.

CAG wanted to find fun options to bring families together and set out to organize new ways families could spend time in an informal way. Hence, Concerts in the Parks was born. With the dedication of volunteers, and oversight from CAG’s staff and committees, a schedule for each summer is approved, venues are selected, music groups are booked, and food is organized. CAG depends on the generosity of the community to help fund these events through ticket sales and donations.

A Fun Time for All

The concerts are a marvelous time for families to connect, and children of all ages to dance, play and participate. Parents can be seen cradling children on their hips or throwing a frisbee with their kids while eating ice cream and listening to everything from reggae to rock-n-roll. More mature Georgetowners might pull up a lawn chair and enjoy the music (and the frolicking children and well-behaved pups), as well.

The Concerts in the Parks series has become a most popular and well-known CAG event and is a “can’t miss” gathering every summer.

Stay Tuned for Next Year’s Schedule

Summer of 2020, due to COVID19, all summer concerts were cancelled. But stay tuned as CAG promises to be back with a fun filled calendar of events once it is safe to do so.

See you back here summer of 2021!
